My Star Ratings

So, I guess it's pretty self-explanatory, the five star rating system, but I think they do vary from person to person. Some people never give out five stars and some, like me, give them out ALL THE TIME. The opposite end of this is that I hardly ever give a book less than three stars. I'm trying to change that though in order to make the three, four, five star ratings mean more. So here we go, my version of the five star rating system, the one that I'll be using on this blog.

★: Struggled to finish this book and felt it had major problems. No redeeming features, really, why did I even finish it? Possibly didn't even finish.

★★: This book was okay, definitely wouldn't bother reading again. There were lots of parts I had an issue with, and only one or two redeeming features.

★★★: I enjoyed this book, but I probably wouldn't pick it up again. I might recommend it to a friend but it wouldn't be at the top of my list. There weren't any horrible problems with it, but there also weren't any amazing elements.

★★★★: I enjoyed this book and might pick it up again sometime. I would definitely recommend it to a friend. There were a few things I didn't like, but mostly it was pretty amazing!

★★★★★: I LOVED this book. I will continue to shout about it until everyone I know agrees with me. It was an amazing story, beautifully written. Characters, plot, setting, relationships, themes, it's all very, very good.

★★★★★: The gold star is really just for me. This book was everything a five star book is but with the added element of reminding me why I write and why I love reading. It inspired me and that deserves to be recognised somehow.

I hope that helps you all figure out exactly what I mean by my take on star ratings.
