Nano day 9

I am not creeping past the finishing line any more, but I hope to change that by the end of this week. But I have made good progress tonight.

I have reached 13071 words, which is a start, but I am aware that I am nowhere near caught up with my word count. I am shutting down the laptop tonight with a mixture of relief, excitement and guilt.

I could continue writing. I have noted the next scene that I am to write tomorrow. It is a very good scene. And had I carried on writing this evening, I would have made a nice big dent in the catch up word count.

But I realised, no matter how much I wrote tonight, unless I hit 50k, I would still need to write a minimum of 1667 words tomorrow.

I hear you shout 'But you are a writer! Even when you hit 50k, you should be adding to the word count every day!' And I am in total agreement.

This is where being unpublished becomes a joy. During NaNoWriMo I have a deadline of 50k words by midnight on 30th November. Come December, the only deadlines I have are my own. And I can be a very flexible boss.

So until tomorrow.

  1. Guilt? Are you kidding? 13071 words is a huge achievement by any standards. Certainly no reason for guilt. Well done and keep it up.
